Leo A Daly, 2002 – 2004

  • Write, edit, create/modify graphics and desktop publish proposals,
    publications, and PowerPoint presentations to bring new business into the company.

    Independent Contractor, 2001– 2002

  • Managed the production of publications - writing, graphics, layout, desktop publishing and litho printing for various clients.
  • Projects included: Print Production Manager for an advertising firm who clients included major cable TV networks and major nationwide retailers and PowerPoint production for a Construction Management firm.

    Marketing Communications:

    • Improved the look of printed corporate publications while reducing print expenditures by 20%
    • Scheduled, initiated, created, and managed all print production including:
    • Produced from scratch all PowerPoint presentations for interviews for new construction jobs.
    • Updated and upgraded the Marketing photographs. Reduced cost and increased quality.
    • Hired and managed Graphic Artists and Photographers.

    Internet Access:

    • Managed implementation and installation twice (one died, found another) of a company-wide DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) line running at 1.1 Megabits per second. Managed transition to new provider with no downtime.
    • Implemented company-wide Internet e-mail.
    • Managed implementation twice of DNS e-mail server. (again, one died, found another) Also, managed transition to new provider with no downtime.
    • Ensured Internet connection and Internet e-mail is up and running properly.

    Company Website:

    • Produced company website within 3 day of assignment from a blank page and no prior knowledge of HTML. Learned to upload to the web server within the same 3 days.
    • Managed implementation twice of remote web site host, then managed the transition with no downtime.
    • Designed the company website. Manage website as Webmaster at www.peckjones.com
    • Increased traffic (hits or visits) to web site by 325%.

    Novell Network:

    • Managed the Peck/Jones local Novell network.
    • Oversaw server system maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Installed and troubleshot on user’s computers: the Novell client, the Groupwise email client and the anti-virus client. Updated anti-virus client on server and user’s workstation as necessary.
    • Computer Workstations:
    • Researched, ordered, and purchased company computers.
    • Installed all company-utilized software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and so forth.
    • Installed additional hardware as needed including RAM, hard drives, CD-ROM’s, Zip drives, faxmodems, and so forth.

    • Managed the income from my department which subsidized 70% of the department's expenditures.
    • Reduced video production expenses by 300%. Reduced print expenditures by 25%.
    • Implemented state-of-the-art desktop publishing and computer animation.
    • Evaluated in-house clients’ needs. Negotiated deadlines.
    • Controlled multiple production schedules on multiple projects.
    • Directed each publication through a six-person department from conception through "camera-ready art" to the finished publication.

    • Taught myself to use the web page creation program called Microsoft FrontPage, then these more advanced web page creation programs: Adobe PageMill, Adobe GoLive and finally Macromedia Dreamweaver.
